St Michael’s believes that a positive and comprehensive introduction to school life is imperative to the success of children and parents. For many Prep students, this is their first experience of a school environment and for many parents, the first time they have engaged with a school since they were a student themselves. St Michael’s offers the following process of orientation and induction into Prep.
Prep Open Day
This day offers families to come along and find out what St Michael’s can offer your child.

Orientation Morning
This morning usually runs early in Term 4 . This day is a two-hour session, for all parents and children to attend. There is the opportunity to purchase the Prep hat at the end of Orientation Morning. The children will be excited to purchase their school hat ready for Transition the following week. More information by mail.
Transition Morning
This morning usually happens in mid Term 4. These sessions will consist of a 2-hour morning program running for parents and children. The session times will normally be on a Thursday each week. The parents’ sessions will be on ‘current hot’ topics taking place in the school hall while the children are engaged with the prep teachers in the prep classrooms. The children attending Transition will be participating in activities that provide fun and easy ways to learn and remember class rules and routines.
Transition helps children feel that they are an important part of the group and it teaches children how to express themselves in a positive way. Above all, Transition provides a place where children can form and enjoy healthy relationships before commencing their academic school year. More information is posted by mail.
