At St Michael’s we communicate with families in a number of ways.
Parent Slips & Broadcasts | These communications are sent out via email to parents and guardians. Parent slips prompt parents to complete permission for an activity. or gather information. Examples include excursions, sporting events, health and medical. |
Personal Appointments | Parents are welcome to meet with classroom teachers or the principal to discuss any matter. If parents are seeking an appointment, they are to contact the classroom teachers to arrange a mutually suitable time to meet (before or after school). An appointment with the principal can be arranged by contacting the school office. |
Parent Portal | The portal is a secure space where parents can access their child’s reports, download forms and documents, manage their own contact details, view the school calendar and notify the school of any students absences. Parent slips and broadcasts can also be viewed in this portal. |
MyCE Parent App | A convenient app on your mobile device to access all the features of the Parent Portal whenever you need it. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Log in with your Parent portal username and password. |
Parent Teacher Interviews | These face to face interviews occur twice per year (see Reporting) and it is highly recommended that parents arrange a time to meet and discuss their child’s progress with the classroom teacher. It is beneficial for students in the older cohorts to also attend if able. St Michael’s uses the Parent Teacher Online (PTO) website which allows parents and carers to log in and make bookings for allocated interview periods. PTO is only open during specific time periods and parents will be notified when it is open for bookings with full instructions. If parents and carers can not make it to an interview in person, in some circumstances a phone or zoom meeting may be offered by the teacher, depending on availability. |
Whole School Assemblies | Assemblies are held every Friday at 2:10 pm, with our school community usually gathering in the school hall. Parents and carers are welcome to attend. |
Seesaw Classroom App | This app is a tool that allows our teachers to integrate parents into classroom learning. It is a student-driven digital portfolio and learning management system that empowers students to independently document what they are learning and share it with their teachers, classmates and parents. |
School Newsletter | Distributed fortnightly, our newsletter informs our community of up-to-date happenings and information. It is the school’s official medium of communication with parents and is sent via email. |
Socal Media | Our school has both a Facebook and Instagram account. We regularly share photos, movies and happy memories on these accounts for our families as well as some general information. |
